Sabino Canyon

You can find this canyon at the north-east corner of Tucson. It is a nice park with hiking trails and views on different canyons like Sabino Canyon or Bear Canyon. Some trails go far in the mountains to some waterfalls, when of course there is some water flowing. Signs are posted at the beginning of hikes to warn the visitor against the threat of mountain lions. However, we were quite lucky because apart from birds, rabbits and lizards, we didn’t meet mountain lions, rattlesnakes, tarantulas or scorpions.
Sabino Canyon offers a good variety of landscapes from flat at the beginning to mountain slopes and canyons at the end of hikes. Along the way, all sorts of cactus are present, except the Organ Pipe. It is a nice place which is to me the good equivalent, if not better, of the Saguaro National Park.
