Lake Powell area, Arizona, Monday May 16th 2005.

The day was cloudy over the lake, so the colors don't stand out as they should. The lake fills the Glen Canyon, thanks to Glen Canyon dam built in 1957. Page is a very new city, living from tourism on the lake. Because of the dam and a Navajo power plant, the landscape is ruined by a lot of power lines.

The town of Page is in Arizona. It is situated on the Colorado river, between Lake Powell immidiately towards the East and the Grand Canyon a little further South-West. Six hours from Las Vegas, it is a passage on the Colorado between the north rim with Bryce Canyon, Zion, and the south rim with the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley.
Antelope Canyon is a 200 yards long slot canyon 3 miles east of Page, very easy to go to. It's serviced by Navajo indians trucks and they sell one hour and two hours guided tours. Horseshoe Bend is just 7 miles south of Page, a little parking lot on the side of the road leads to a 0.75 easy sandy trail going to the edge of the cliff of Glen Canyon where there is a spectacular view on a bend of the Colorado.
Buckskin Gulch is another slot canyon in Utah, 25 miles west of Page. The creek (dry most of the time) joins the Paria river, and then joins the Colorado river some 30 miles later of slot canyon.
