Tucson, like everything else in this area it seems, is stuck between mountains on each side. Saguaro National Park is on
the east side and on the west side behind a small mountain range. Sabino Canyon is located on the north east corner of the town. All the rivers
passing through town are dry.
There is a lot to see in the city. There is a museum of the desert, an international wildlife museum, the Pima air and space
museum, the old Tucson studios. The Pima county courthouse downtown is worth seeing. Many of the churches have a Mexican architectural style like the
Saint Augustine cathedral and the Mission San Xavier del Bac.
The Davis Monthan air force base is home to a junkyard of old planes. Thousands of old military planes, some without engines,
some without cockpits or tails or even wings are stocked side by side as far as the eye can see. A little further south along I 19 (one of the rare
US interstates to use the metric system) is an old nuclear missiles silo. Kitt Peak observatory is not far.
Tucson is a pleasant city with a lot of things to visit.
